A holiday within a holiday. Does life get any better?! After having a very busy time in Sydney playing tour guide to a number of guests that have come to see us, Callum and I were very kindly treated to a week long holiday to Port Douglas with Callum's parents and brother a couple of weeks ago. Having not gone up to Northern Queensland since I was a toddler, I was really excited to get up to the Great Barrier Reef and the insanely warm 30 degree winter weather. Plus, Callum hasn't explored beyond New South Wales (or more specifically, Sydney) so it was great for him to see more of Australia while spending time with his family.

We spent 6 nights in Port Douglas in which time we wandered the area and enjoyed the beach life. Eating well, reading books and lounging by the pool - it was a week well spent! On our final night, we left Port Douglas to spend a night in a beautiful hotel in the Daintree Rainforest, which was incredible. Such a wonderful way to end our holiday.

With no competition, my highlight of the holiday was the day we spent on the Barrier Reef snorkelling. We went to the Outer Reef, an hour and a half from the coastline by boat, to "Opal Reef" where we snorkelled at three different locations. It was so beautiful, and it definitely re-awakened my "inner mermaid"! The water was unbelievably blue, and the coral so vibrant - I really had no idea how beautiful it was there. And on the way back, we were so fortunate to see FOUR Humpback whales!

Below are some photos from our time in Queensland. Some snaps poolside, a few on walks along Four Mile Beach in Port Douglas, a few from the Reef and a number from the Daintree Rainforest.
