After a sizeable blogging hiatus, I feel like I have a LOT of news to share from the past six weeks!

Having spent the first ten weeks of our time in Australia being completely indecisive on whether we were going to stay in Sydney or returning to Edinburgh, our decision deadline was quickly approaching (deadline being when Callum had to let his boss know if he was returning). Being relatively decisive, plan-loving people, this was quite an uneasy time for us, with the pros and cons of staying/going being daily discussion points. In mid-August we finally made the call that we are going to stay in Sydney for a couple of years, and then see what happens! We have been so excited, feeling that taking this step will open a number of doors for us going forward. Aside from that, we were thrilled to have just made a decision, finally leaving this stage of limbo!

A holiday within a holiday. Does life get any better?! After having a very busy time in Sydney playing tour guide to a number of guests that have come to see us, Callum and I were very kindly treated to a week long holiday to Port Douglas with Callum's parents and brother a couple of weeks ago. Having not gone up to Northern Queensland since I was a toddler, I was really excited to get up to the Great Barrier Reef and the insanely warm 30 degree winter weather. Plus, Callum hasn't explored beyond New South Wales (or more specifically, Sydney) so it was great for him to see more of Australia while spending time with his family.

Time is flying here. I can't believe we've already been in Sydney for seven weeks! On the one hand I feel that I have never experienced time moving so quickly! On the other hand, I feel like we have been here for a lot longer than seven weeks and feel surprisingly settled considering the time frame.

Our wedding was in Edinburgh, Scotland midway through April this year, and it couldn't have been a better day. From start to finish, everything was beautiful and exactly as I had hoped my wedding day would one day be. Callum and I had the greatest weekend, and our guests seemed be be having almost as good a time as us..!

Winter in Sydney is unbelievable! I really don't remember greater winter weather here - perhaps bad memory or just appreciating it more now I'm a little older? Either way, we've had very few rainy days and we are are loving what Sydney has to offer, soaking up every second of it in case the temperature drops..! So, due to such weather, Cal and I have been busy. Busy in perhaps a different sense sense of the word. Not working, but walking, exploring and eating our way through Sydney is strangely exhausting! I come home every night absolutely shattered from the day's adventures. So on that note, I thought I would share some adventures from the past 10 days in Australia with some snaps to go alongside.

Two Weeks.

Today it has been two weeks since we moved to Sydney, so I thought it was about time that I blogged about my general wanderings since arriving!

So far Callum and I have been having a great time exploring Sydney. We hit the ground running and have been using each day to drive somewhere new. Despite doing A LOT (and eating more than our fair share), we have felt so relaxed and have loved hanging out with one another with no agenda. I’ve caught up with some family and friends, who I haven’t seen since Cal and I got married so it’s been really fun to continue the wedding celebrations! And on top of this, we have had incredible winter weather – 20 degrees could definitely be worse!

New Beginnings.

I've been wanting to start a blog for a number of years now, but every time I sat down to write my first blog post I felt that I didn't have anything worth writing about. I'd even gotten so close to the mark that I had created the blog, bought the domain name and made sure that it was pretty enough for public consumption!

After 18 months of Graceful Wanderings having been in existence, sitting alone without any posts, I've finally plucked up the courage to write.

Moving to Sydney in 8 days (!!!) with Callum has given me an excuse to give it a go. I'm excited to use this space as a place to update friends and family around the world on some of our adventures together in Australia and wherever else we may end up living in the future. Aside from updating friends and fam around the world, I wanted to start this blog as a way to document life, as this next chapter is definitely going to be an exciting one.
